About Us.
Have you ever walked into a business, or store and noticed a sign on the wall, or pinned up card over a desk that gave you a spiritual lift for the day? If your like me it probably surprised you as much as blessed you, since these days displaying anything that can be construed as religious in a public place is considered to be "offensive".
I am lucky and blessed to live in a small town where it's actually not such a strange thing to see, it is something that I see rather often in many offices. I started thinking one day that if those little messages blessed me, surely there were many non-christians that also read the same sign and left that office at least with a thought in the back of their mind, or maybe a reminder of something they had left far behind in their childhood. How wonderful would it be if we could just spread little cards with uplifting sayings and inspirational scripture everywhere we went!
Thus, Little Seeds of Faith was born.
After much prayer about the idea, I began distributing the cards locally. To be honest I wasn't exactly sure where I was going with this, but I figure best to step out in faith, and do something, rather than to wait and do nothing. I began handing them out free to anyone that wanted to help get them out, with my goal and mission being to get them into the hands of drug/alcohol rehab centers, jail ministries, street ministries ect.
Very quickly I was printing nearly non-stop! Still unsure where I was going with it all, I was sure that God was leading and though I made a few wrong turns in the process, he is always faithful and ready to turn me around, 'till I get it right.
Before I even considered what these free cards were costing me, God was faithful to provide! I was very grateful and amazed to find that while I was giving away cards in one place, surprise donations were coming from other places. Not just donations, but gifts, and provisions that saved us money and allowed us to continue doing what we were doing. God began to put people in my path that were able to get into the places that I wanted to make the cards available to. Rehabs, Jails, ect.
So, I decided that if was working out so well locally, why not share it with the world! The world wide web! Being a web designer, it seemed the next obvious step to me, and in short time I introduced Little Seeds of Faith to the world! That's when things got, let's say, a bit more interesting. Let me tell you, when you tell the world that you are giving away stuff, you get lots of attention and everyone wants as much free stuff as you have to give! This is where my heart began to have some rather serious differences with my bank account. Postage alone was taking a BIG chunk of our paychecks, not to mention all of the other supplies needed to keep my little home printing press for God going day and night.
When finacial strain turned to real stress and worry I knew some changes needed to be made. Something I should have realized long before I did. I was doing what I firmly believed that God had asked me to do, however I was beginning to wonder what he intended that I do about my personal bills if I kept paying the mounting daily postage bills and overhead. What I hadn't done was pray about it. I had gone into the project because God had directed me to do so, but once I got started it became my little baby and I ran with it without stopping to listen to the directions of the Boss! Like I am sure a lot of us do, I finally stopped to listen when I ran out of funds! Lesson learned, things wouldn't get so tough if we'd just listen to start with.. See Card #1059, "Is prayer your steering wheel or spare tire."
I didn't intend to write a book here, and believe me this is the short version, but it brings me to where we are today. It is my hearts desire to work with rehab/jail/street ministries or any ministry that would benifit from our cards or bookmarks, but I've learned that while my vision is big, I have to get there in God's time, not mine. You will see a lot of changes no doubt over time as I stumble along trying to follow Gods will for this project. For now I look for new means of revenue, to fund the ministry that I am devoted to. Obviously the more I can bring in, the more we can give away.
God's the boss, I just work here! So keep watching Little Seeds of Faith. You know if God owns it then it is going to be a very exciting and amazing venture!!
